Andersen Genève’s World Time Gains a Split Seconds Upgrade
Andersen Genève has introduced the Rattrapante Mondiale, an impressive addition to its lineup that combines a world time complication with the Venus 179 split-seconds chronograph movement. This watch features a unique two-level world time display, crafted entirely by hand, showcasing Andersen's commitment to artisanal watchmaking. The design is compact yet elegant, with a left-handed case that distinguishes it from traditional configurations, although this choice may be seen as an unnecessary affectation. Priced at CHF184,000, the Rattrapante Mondiale justifies its cost through its complexity and craftsmanship, reflecting the high standards of independent watchmaking. The Rattrapante Mondiale employs a Cottier-type world time mechanism but with a modern twist, using superimposed discs for a more compact design. The watch's dial, made of solid 18k white gold with dark blue enamel markings, evokes a vintage aesthetic reminiscent of mid-20th century luxury timepieces. With a diameter of 38.8 mm and a thickness of just under 12 mm, the watch is notably thin for a split-seconds chronograph. Limited to only eight pieces, it embodies a blend of historical significance and contemporary artistry, making it a remarkable choice for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
