ArtyA Complexity Double-Inclined Tourbillon Watch Review: Horology Meets Artistry

ArtyA’s Complexity watch showcases a bold blend of avant‑garde design and sophisticated horology. Developed in‑house by Yvan Arpa’s team and built by Swiss specialist Purtec, the movement features a double inclined balance wheel, called a “Cônillon”, positioned at 12 and 6 o’clock and linked by a differential. Each Cônillon completes a rotation every 30 seconds, providing superior error‑cancellation compared with traditional tourbillons. The manually‑wound calibre runs at 3 Hz, offers a 50‑hour power reserve, and displays only hours and minutes with a rear‑side power‑reserve indicator. With 287 components, the watch is housed in either a transparent sapphire crystal case or a ruby‑crystal “pigeon’s blood” case, both measuring 42 mm × 48 mm and 13 mm thick, and paired with custom rubber or leather straps. Only nine pieces of the Complexity will be produced, each available in two dial styles—Griffe and Matte—and priced at CHF 190,000 for the sapphire version and CHF 220,000 for the ruby version. The limited edition emphasizes exclusivity while delivering a striking visual experience of the double Cônillons in action, reinforcing ArtyA’s reputation for innovative, high‑end timepieces that push the boundaries of mechanical watchmaking.
