Balmuda's Pocket Watch-Inspired Clock: A New Way to Experience Time
Balmuda’s pocket watch-inspired clock, named The Clock, redefines the concept of telling time by allowing users to experience its passage through light and sound rather than traditional markers. The device features a unique Light Hour system that uses illumination to indicate time, moving in a slow, pendulum-like arc reminiscent of a Foucault pendulum. Crafted from a solid block of aluminum, it is lightweight and portable, charging via USB-C and designed to fit in the palm of the hand. In addition to its time-telling function, The Clock offers a Relax Time mode with seven original sound recordings, such as rain and fireplace sounds, designed to create a calming environment. This mode plays sounds gently leading up to an alarm, gradually increasing in volume to wake users softly. The focus timer feature allows users to set a countdown from one to sixty minutes, supplemented with white noise, all controlled through the Balmuda Connect app. The design encourages a more mindful experience of time, particularly during personal moments, making it a thoughtful addition to any nightstand.
