Chopard partners with Italian Zagato for its lightest-ever concept watch
Chopard has partnered with Italian automotive design house Zagato to introduce the Lab One Zagato Concept watch, the lightest titanium timepiece the brand has ever created, weighing just 43.2 grams including the strap. This innovative watch embodies a unique architectural approach, drawing inspiration from Zagato's racing car designs. The Lab One Concept features a framework that actively supports the movement rather than simply housing it, discarding traditional lugs for a visible network of cylindrical elements that adapt to the wrist. The watch's design, which includes a distinctive chassis and exposed movement, is intended to challenge conventional notions of ergonomics and aesthetics in watchmaking. Crafted from ceramicised titanium, the Lab One Concept showcases a matte anthracite finish that emphasizes function over decoration, aimed at durability and performance. The watch includes a prominent sapphire crystal and a caseback that allows for unobstructed views of its intricate mechanics, including Chopard's L.U.C 04.04-L movement with a tourbillon and automotive-inspired details. Limited to just 19 pieces, the watch represents a forward-thinking approach to design, merging elements of experimental architecture and automotive engineering, making it a significant statement in high-end horology.
