GPHG 2025: Breguet's Elegant Simplicity Takes the Aiguille d'Or in Historic 25th Anniversary Ceremony

The 25th Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève celebrated a remarkable evening in Geneva, where Breguet's Classique Souscription 2025 was awarded the prestigious Aiguille d'Or for its elegant simplicity, representing a shift away from ultra-complicated timepieces. This single-hand watch pays homage to Abraham-Louis Breguet's original 1796 design, emphasizing the art and challenge of simplicity in watchmaking. The event showcased a diverse array of honored pieces, with the Ladies' prize going to Gérald Genta's Gentissima Oursin Fire Opal, and Chopard receiving accolades for its Imperiale Four Seasons. The ceremony underscored the vitality of the watchmaking industry, with GPHG president Raymond Loretan highlighting the blend of art, mechanics, and innovation in contemporary horology. Notable awards included the Chronometry Prize for Zenith's G.F.J. Calibre 135 and the Horological Revelation Prize for Anton Suhanov's St. Petersburg Easter Egg Tourbillon Clock. The 90 nominated watches, including the 19 winners, will be on display at the Geneva Musée d'Art et d'Histoire, and later featured during Dubai Watch Week, showcasing the breadth and depth of craftsmanship in the field.
