Grand Seiko’s Legendary Entry-Level Automatic GMT Just Got Some Company

Grand Seiko has introduced two new automatic GMT watches, the SBGM255 "Snowdrop" and SBGM257 "Moondrop," which share key features with the popular SBGM221. Both new models maintain the elegant 39.5mm stainless steel case and the reliable Caliber 9S66 movement, which offers a three-day power reserve and high accuracy. The watches also feature the same dial layout with faceted indices and a framed date window, but they come with distinct textured dials inspired by nature—Snowdrop reflects melting snow while Moondrop evokes dew drops in moonlight. Priced at $5,400 each, these new additions are positioned as affordable options within Grand Seiko’s catalog of non-quartz GMTs. The textured dials not only enhance visual interest but also align with the brand's nature-inspired design ethos. Although these models are not yet available for purchase, they are set to launch in December, promising to attract both enthusiasts and newcomers to the Grand Seiko brand.
