Hands-On: The Handsome Union Glashutte 1893 Johannes Durrstein Anniversary Editions
Union Glashütte has introduced two attractive models from the 1893 Johannes Dürrstein Anniversary Editions, celebrating the founder's 180th birthday. These watches honor traditional Glashütte pocket watch designs while incorporating contemporary specifications at affordable prices. The Large Second model features an off-centered dial layout with a large subsidiary seconds display, while the smaller Small Second model presents a more straightforward design with a small seconds counter at 6 o'clock. Both models are crafted with a taupe dial and elegant silver rings, creating a refined yet modern aesthetic suitable for both men and women. Powered by Swiss ETA automatic movements, these limited edition watches maintain a connection to Glashütte's rich watchmaking heritage while keeping costs manageable. The Large Second model has a 41mm case with a water resistance of 100 meters, while the Small Second is 34mm with a 50-meter resistance. Each watch is paired with a black calfskin strap and features meticulous finishing touches, priced at EUR 1,960 for the Large Second and EUR 1,780 for the Small Second. Limited to 99 pieces each, they represent a blend of quality, style, and value in the world of luxury timepieces.
