Hands-On With Wempe’s Iron Walker Diver Bronze

Wempe introduces the Iron Walker Diver Bronze, a new addition to its Iron Walker watch family, which traditionally features steel models. This diver's watch stands out with its bronze case, appealing to those who find gold too delicate and steel too mundane. The design combines a golden bronze tone with a black dial, maintaining the same dimensions and layout as its steel counterparts. It includes a sapphire crystal, gold-plated indexes and hands, and a durable rubber-coated bezel, ensuring both functionality and aesthetic appeal. The watch is powered by the Selitta SW200-1a movement, certified as a Chronometer, which alleviates concerns about accuracy. Although it boasts a depth rating of 300 meters, its design leans more towards elegance than rugged diving. Priced at €4,495 (or US$5,200), the limited edition reflects a notable price increase since the introduction of the Iron Walker collection. This pricing strategy has drawn criticism, highlighting the trend of steep price increases among several watch brands.
