HGP's Affordable Chronograph Brings Mecaquartz Charm to a Classic Diver Shape

HGP has unveiled the Diver 200M Chrono-Mecaquartz, a reintroduction of the classic 664 case shape, marking the brand's first chronograph in over fifty years. Priced at $395, this watch features a sapphire crystal, Seiko VK64 mecaquartz movement, and boasts a water resistance of 20 ATM. The design pays homage to the Monnin-built divers of the 1970s, and the watch includes historical references such as the “Scuba Dude” character from the HGP archive on the caseback. The watch is available with either a three-link bracelet or a tropic-style rubber strap, constructed from 316L stainless steel with dimensions of 38.5mm across the bezel, 42mm lug to lug, and 12.4mm thick. With a rated depth of 200 meters supported by a screw-down crown and caseback, the VK64 movement offers reliability and functionality. This release combines an attractive price point, a nod to Monnin heritage, and the practicality of a mecaquartz chronograph, making it an appealing option for collectors and enthusiasts of vintage-inspired designs in 2025.
