Introducing: The Awake Sơn Mài Fragments In Three Mesmeric Colors
The Awake Sơn Mài Fragments collection merges the ancient Japanese art of Raden, traditional Vietnamese lacquer techniques, and Swiss watchmaking, resulting in three limited edition watches available in green, blue, and pink. Each watch features hand-laid mother-of-pearl fragments sealed under layers of lacquer, with a clean and modern design crafted from recycled stainless steel. The watches are powered by the La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement, which provides a 68-hour power reserve, and they come with handmade calfskin leather straps that match the dial colors. Creating the dials requires nearly 15 hours of meticulous manual work by master lacquerers in Hanoi, beginning with sap from the Rhus verniciflua tree, known for its clarity and depth. The process involves hand-coating the dials with lacquer, placing mother-of-pearl fragments, and applying multiple layers of lacquer to achieve a unique depth and shine. With only 100 pieces available for each color at a price of €2,250, these watches are positioned as accessible luxury, appealing to those who appreciate handcrafted artistry in timepieces.
