Raketa’s Latest Wristwatch is Key-Wound and Wood
Raketa's latest wristwatch, the Golden Key, is a limited edition timepiece inspired by a 1930s Russian fairytale, featuring a unique walnut wood case that evokes historical wooden clocks. Designed with a key-winding mechanism, it also allows for traditional crown winding. The watch maintains a 1970s aesthetic with a compact size of 38.8 mm in diameter and 10.88 mm in height, finished with a sapphire crystal for durability. The movement, based on the Soviet-era cal. 2609, has been modernized yet remains simple, and the watch is priced at €2,900. The Golden Key is not only a functional watch but also a conversation piece, showcasing a blend of nostalgia and innovative materials. The walnut wood is stable and moisture-resistant, coated with a clear varnish for protection. With a limited run of just 300 pieces, the watch is available directly from Raketa, set for delivery in 2026. Its design elements, such as the grained dial and leather strap, further highlight its connection to the past while appealing to contemporary tastes.
