Seiko Releases Two Gold-Accented Dive Watches to Honor Shohei Ohtani
Seiko has released two limited edition dive watches, the Prospex Diver’s 1965 Heritage SBDC222 and SBDC224, to honor baseball star Shohei Ohtani following his impressive achievements with the LA Dodgers. These watches incorporate a sleek design inspired by the team's colors, featuring gold accents that pay homage to Ohtani's accolades, such as the MVP logo patch. Each watch is crafted with a 40mm stainless steel case, showcasing a vertical dial texture and equipped with the Caliber 6R55 automatic movement, boasting a 72-hour power reserve. Production is limited to 1,700 pieces of each model, referencing Ohtani's jersey number 17, and priced at approximately ¥286,000 (around $1,832). The watches will be available exclusively through Seiko Global Brand Core Shops and selected authorized dealers in Japan starting April 24, making them particularly challenging to acquire for international collectors. Although the design and craftsmanship justify the appeal of these limited editions, potential buyers may still consider standard production options within the same range.
