Swatch Group UK's Sales Return to Growth

The UK division of Swatch Group has seen a dramatic rebound, with turnover climbing to £203 million, a 207 % increase since 2015, while global sales have fallen 25 % over the same period. After a sharp decline from a 2023 peak of £218 million to £194 million, profitability remains strong, with operating profit rising from £12 million in 2024 to £14 million in 2025. High prices for volume manufacturers have pushed excess inventory onto the grey market, and an oversupply of monobrand boutiques in mature markets has strained margins, prompting the company to focus on innovative products and strategic advertising to sustain growth. Economic factors such as employment levels, interest rates, tax rates, inflation, and rising national insurance contributions are influencing consumer confidence and purchasing power. The firm is mitigating these pressures by maintaining strong brand relationships, investing in new product development, and optimizing marketing spend, which fell slightly from £11.8 million to £11.4 million in 2024. Internationally, Swatch Group’s turnover dropped from CHF 8.5 billion in 2015 to CHF 6.3 billion in 2025, yet the first half of 2026 shows an 8.5 % increase to CHF 3.12 billion at constant exchange rates, indicating a cautiously optimistic outlook.
