The All-New, 4th-Generation Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean
The 4th-generation Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean, celebrating its 20th anniversary, introduces a significant design overhaul that marks a strong departure from its predecessors. This new iteration establishes a distinct identity for the collection, differentiating it from other Seamaster models like the Diver 300M. Key changes include a more angular case design, the removal of the helium escape valve, a no-date display, and an entirely new bracelet. The watch also returns to a more wearable 42mm diameter and achieves a notably slimmer 13.8mm profile, partly due to a flat sapphire crystal and an inner titanium ring for water resistance, inspired by the Ultra-Deep collection. The bezel has been retouched with a pronounced serrated profile and a wide ceramic insert, available in black, blue, or the collection's iconic orange. While the case design is revolutionary, the dial maintains familiar elements like arrowhead hands and bold trapezoidal indexes, now with modern updates such as open-work, squarer Arabic numerals and the absence of a date window. Powering the timepiece is Omega's in-house automatic calibre 8912, a Master Chronometer certified movement featuring a Co-Axial escapement, a 60-hour power reserve, and a practical time zone function. The collection offers models on a new, slimmer steel bracelet with an adjustable clasp and diving extension, or on rubber straps. Prices for the new Seamaster Planet Ocean start at CHF 6,700 for models on a rubber strap and CHF 7,200 for those on a steel bracelet, excluding taxes.
