The Fourth Generation Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean, All New For Its 20th Anniversary
The fourth generation Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean has undergone a complete redesign to celebrate its 20th anniversary, departing significantly from its predecessors while maintaining its core functionality and aesthetic appeal. The new case features a more aggressive, angular design, moving away from the softer curves that characterized earlier models. Measuring 42mm wide and 13.79mm thick, it is slimmer than the previous generation, enhancing wearability. The bezel has been flattened with defined grooves for better grip and durability, while the watch continues to offer a 600m water resistance rating. Notably, it lacks a date function, a change that improves visual balance but sacrifices some utility. The dial retains its essential elements, such as the big arrow handset and trapezoidal hour markers, though with some font adjustments for improved coherence with the updated case design. The watch is powered by the Omega 8912 caliber, boasting a 60-hour power reserve and METAS Master Chronometer certification. This evolution positions the new Planet Ocean distinctly within the Omega lineup, particularly compared to other Seamaster models. Pricing is set between $8,600 and $9,500 depending on the strap or bracelet options chosen, marking it as a premium offering in the dive watch category.
