The Horological Society Of New York Expands Financial Aid Programs With Donation From The Vogt Foundation
The Horological Society of New York (HSNY) is expanding its financial aid programs significantly due to a generous donation from the Vogt Foundation, which will increase the annual scholarship pool from $160,000 to $480,000. This expansion allows for international applicants to participate for the first time, aligning with HSNY's mission to support aspiring watchmakers around the globe. Kyle Vogt, the Executive Director of the Vogt Foundation, emphasized the importance of preserving human craftsmanship in an increasingly digital world, while Nicholas Manousos, Executive Director of HSNY, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to extend educational support further than ever before. Additionally, the Vogt Foundation's contribution will initiate a new Independent Watchmaker Grant Program, aimed at providing direct funding to independent watchmakers for essential tools and startup costs. Awards will be based on criteria like innovation and design quality, particularly for unique complications and movements. This initiative highlights the significance of independent watchmakers as creative forces in horology, enabling them to realize their visions with the necessary resources. Together, these efforts mark a pivotal moment in advancing the art and science of watchmaking.
