This Affordable Field Watch Reimagines Legibility With a Bold New Dial
Astor and Banks has launched the Terra Scout, a new automatic field watch that departs from traditional military aesthetics while maintaining functionality. Priced under $1,000, the Terra Scout is available in four references, showcasing a thoughtful design that prioritizes legibility and purpose. The watch features blunted dauphine hands and a unique dial architecture that incorporates a hybrid sandwich-and-sector design, allowing for depth without clutter. The integrated date track and contrasting colors enhance its visual appeal, while the use of Super-LumiNova ensures excellent visibility in low light. The Terra Scout comes in two sandblasted steel models and two coated steel versions, each offering distinct color combinations and design elements. Notably, the limited edition "Desert Sand" model stands out with its khaki Cerakote-coated case and is capped at 100 units. Each reference is powered by the La Joux-Perret G100 automatic movement, providing a robust 68-hour power reserve. Currently available at a launch price, the Terra Scout represents a significant evolution for the brand, hinting at a promising future direction in their design philosophy.
