Will Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair Prove Its Worth?
Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair, announced in June 2026, aims to revive a major European gathering for the jewellery industry in Basel after the collapse of Baselworld. Organized by MCH Group and Informa Markets Asia, the fair leverages Messe Basel’s infrastructure and targets over 400 exhibitors, with 280 already registered three months after its announcement, representing a strong 70 % of the projected total. Approximately 70 % of the confirmed participants are from the jewellery and gemstone sectors, while the remaining 30 % are watchmakers, and the exhibitor base is currently weighted toward Asian companies (about 65 %) with a growing European presence. The inaugural edition is scheduled for 8–11 April 2027 in Basel’s Hall 2, and the organizers view the event as a platform to re‑establish a central meeting point for the jewellery trade rather than directly competing with established watch shows such as Watches and Wonders. Early indicators suggest positive momentum, with a diverse lineup of jewellery and gemstone exhibitors from Singapore, Germany, Hong Kong, Thailand, India and the United States, while details on watch exhibitors remain pending. The fair’s success will depend on expanding the European and Western participation to achieve a more balanced geographic mix.
Buying Time Analysis: The Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair marks a pivotal revival of a major European industry gathering, filling the void left by Baselworld’s collapse and signaling renewed momentum and opportunities for jewellery and watch sectors worldwide.
