Indie watchmaking experts launch Ateliers Associés incubator

The incubator Ateliers Associés, founded by William Massena and Louis Westphalen‑Lemaitre, aims to support emerging independent watchmakers by providing finance, expertise, and a network of suppliers. Each year the program selects four fledgling artisans, offering funds to develop a prototype in exchange for a minority stake, while handling production, branding, and market‑entry tasks so the creators can focus on watchmaking. The first beneficiary is 29‑year‑old French watchmaker Mickaël Gaspar, who will launch his debut model, Souscription N° 1, a limited 20‑piece retrograde date watch. Backed by the founders’ experience at Louis Vuitton’s La Fabrique du Temps and collaborations with notable independent makers, the incubator seeks to nurture talent into commercially successful brands and eventually expand its investor base to fund future prototypes.

Buying Time Analysis: The story highlights a pivotal initiative that provides financing and expert mentorship to emerging independent watchmakers, safeguarding artisanal craft and fostering the next generation of industry innovators.
